This was my very first styled shoot, so it seemed appropriate to start here. Brenna was my own wedding photographer and knowing I made my own wedding cake, extended the invitation to participate. I jumped at the opportunity to have some artistic freedom. It is something that really makes me love styled shoots to this day.
As with most shoots I participate in, we had a mood board to collaborate with. From this board I was inspired by the macramé accents and the warm tones. Prompting me to create a burnt orange cake with hand piped macramé, completed by the edible pom poms I adore. The Romantic Floral added the perfect (and my favorite) embellishment. You will see more collaborations between us, and she never fails to accentuate my cakes.
Kelsey (of Jarman Farm) set up a gorgeous array of pieces that came together seamlessly. From the terracotta place settings to the free-standing lanterns. It all weaved perfectly together to create an exquisite aesthetic, almost art. Much like the beautiful macramé arch she made. The shoot is romantically moody with a real earthiness to it. I think we can thank the rugged and desert landscape for that, but also one other element. While the weather was not on our side (imagine my fellow vendors huddled around my cake under an umbrella to escape a downpour), the aftermath was stunning, and we could not be mad. That dark/dusky Arizona sunset is alluring, and I think was the finishing touch to this styled shoot. You won’t want to skip the dreamy video Jackilyn made to see everything in action.
