Hello Spooky Season! A time we in Arizona all crave because it means we are creeping closer (pun intended) to cooler weather. Cause even though it’s real sweater weather everywhere else, we are still wearing shorts and t-shirts trying to stay cool. If you’ve been here long enough, you know my own wedding cake was black, and I still LOVE this eye-catching color for cakes. So when I was invited to a Halloween styled shoot, I knew we were going to go with it again. Long time followers will also know that I do not often work with fondant. This time I did, and I (mostly) covered my first cake in fondant. Why? Well I was feeling Taylor Swift’s ‘Reputation’ and all it’s aesthetics for this. Especially the snakes and that glittery black one-piece. This led me to stamp a snake/alligator texture into the fondant but leave an opening for a black geode! I also ripped the top edges for a rougher/edgier look and added edible gold leaf for a bit of glam. I love the dark and moody elegance of this shoot, and I think you will too.
