If you wish to display your cake on a gorgeous stand but don’t want to purchase one for yourself, here is a list of people/groups who you should check to see if they have one you can use or rent.
If you’re looking to add some of these beauties to your cake the best person to speak to is - your florist. I highly recommend talking to your florist for two main reasons reasons.
Let’s remember, guests love to get new plates and utensils when they go back and get seconds. They will most certainly get a new plate for dessert, make sure you plan accordingly.
My own wedding was in January, my reception was early evening. This meant it was going to be cold, and the sun would go down earlier. What does this have to do with my cake? Everything! I knew the cake would keep perfectly in the cool crisp winter air, and wouldn’t be in direct sunlight. I could place my cake anywhere in my venue! It also meant my cake could be outside and I wouldn't have to worry about the elements causing a cake meltdown. Of course I had to be wary of winds. Especially since I precariously placed my cake on a stand and then on a swing! If you’re reception is outside, please remember to think about how the weather will affect your beautiful cake. Never leave it in direct sunlight. The best course of action if you are concerned is to have the cake in an air conditioned space. If you don't have an air conditioned space. I suggest scheduling to have your cake be brought out from refrigeration later to cut into it. However, if you choose this be sure to bring the cake out shortly before the reception so your photographer can get pictures, and then place it safely back in refrigeration.
It got me thinking - ‘What if I hadn't been able to?”. Be sure that if you plan to have a cake pickup rather than have it delivered, that someone will indeed be able to pick it up. Ask a friend or family member, even a couple of people to make sure that someone will be able to get your cake. You can even ask your venue if you can take it to the venue the night before and have them keep it in refrigeration.
I hope these tips/suggestions will help you have the day of your dreams. As always if you have any questions,
